University of Montana 27 reviews - Missoula, MT University of Montana invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Anthropology, beginning August 2016, focused on Bio-archaeology and/or Forensic Anthropology. The teaching load will consist of 3 courses per semester, which will range from introductory courses through graduate seminars and will include classes in introductory physical anthropology lecture and lab, osteology, bio-archaeology and other subjects in biological anthropology. Duties will also include advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, including serving on graduate committees.

About the Department

The Department of Anthropology is a four-field department with 16 tenured faculty members located in the College of Humanities and Sciences. There are approximately 200 undergraduate anthropology majors and 50 graduate students working on master’s and doctoral degrees in Anthropology. The department also administers certificates in forensic science and historic preservation. Current interests in the department include Native peoples and the archaeology of Western North America, phylogenetics, forensic anthropology, molecular anthropology, indigenous language revitalization, medical anthropology, and cultural heritage studies.
