Non-tenure track assistant professor in Paleolithic Archeology

par Sébastien Villotte - publié le , mis à jour le

The post typically runs for 6 years. During this time the candidate would be expected to earn a habilitation degree, which is usually a prerequisite for a full-professorship in Germany. Under exceptional circumstances it may be possible for candidates to stay longer at the university.

The position is open to all nationalities. Knowledge of German is desired, but not necessary at the time of application.

The post includes roughly an equal mix of research, teaching and university administration. The teaching load is half that of a full-professor to allow the candidate to finish her or his habilitation in a timely fashion. Candidates would also be encouraged to run research projects, earn grants and contribute to the academic life of the university. Residency in Tübingen would be expected.

We are looking for a talented Paleolithic expert, but are flexible on the specific area of expertise. Presumably, the successful candidate would be an expert in the study of material culture, but other areas of research are possible.

Please pass this on to potential candidates. If candidates have questions, they may contact me directly : nicholas.conard@uni-tuebingen.de

The last date to apply is July 20. Interviews will follow shortly after that date, and ideally the post would be filled by October 1, 2016.
