The microscopy lab contains optical equipment for microscopic analysis in variety of research contexts (micromorphology, taphonomy, zooarchaeology, use-wear analysis, portable art, cementochronology). Additional imaging equipment serves analytical needs, digital processing and the creation of illustrations for publication.

The lab currently houses :

  • 1 Sensofar S-NEOX non-contact 3D surface profiler capable of confocal scanning, interferometry, and focus variation and equipped with 5x, 20x 20x 20x ELWD, 50x 20x ELWD lenses as well as 100x and 10x interferometric lenses.
  • 1 Leica DM2500P polarising microscope equipped with a camera, discussion tubes, 1.25x, 4x, 10x, 20x, 50x lenses and a real-time XYZ stage.
  • 2 Olympus BH20 polarising microscopes with discussion tubes and equipped with 2x, 4x, 10x, 20x, 50x lenses.
  • 1 Leica Z16APO macroscope with real-time Z reconstruction, ring lights, oblique lighting, 5.7x to 92x magnification and the possibility of viewing large samples. This macroscope is equipped with a reflex digital camera.
  • 1 metallographic microscope equipped with DIC long working distance lenses
  • 1 Olympus CH40 fluorescent microscope
  • 1 Olympus SZH10 binocular microscope with drawing tube
  • 1 Leica M80 binocular microscope with camera and drawing tube
  • 6 Olympus SZ7 binocular microscopes
  • 1 Hirox VCR-800 digital microscope
