Micromorphology & thin sections

by Frédéric Santos - published on

Coordinator: Alain Queffelec

This facility groups the material necessary for the production of thin sections of stone and sediment samples for micromorphological analysis.

The processing facility comprises two vacuum impregnation stations, two rock saws, two grinders for finishing small and large samples, a manual polishing lathe for fine-tuning samples as well as two mounting stations – one using UV light and second for traditional pressure-mounted samples. The thin-sections carried out for research projects at the lab our stored in our micromorphology library.

We also provide a thin-section service. Please contact us or visit our webpage for more information.
