Description of the Course Contents

par Priscilla Bayle - publié le

This two-year Master’s Degree in Biological Anthropology and Prehistory provides advanced research training in biological anthropology (human osteology, palaeoanthropology, palaeobiology, palaeogenetics, and funerary archaeology, including archaeothanatology) and prehistory (geoarchaeology, archaeozoology, palaeontology, and prehistoric technology, art, and cultures). The Course provides the foundation to undertake doctoral research leading to careers in higher education and research in the two disciplines.

Completion of the full two-year course of study provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those wishing to work in cultural resource management organisations, such as Inrap (the National Institute for Rescue (Commercial) Archaeology), services connected to the Ministry of Culture and Communication (Regional Archaeological Services, National Centre for Prehistory), private archaeological resource management consultancy firms, museums and natural history museums. For those who are already professionally employed (for example, in teaching, in the medical professions, or in the Ministry of Culture and Communication), this Master’s course provides the necessary expertise to facilitate participation in multi-disciplinary research programmes.
